PAT RANKIN | ARTIST
MASTER of FINE ARTS
FINE ARTS EXPERT
Welcome to my site, here I have placed as many varieties of pictures of artworks made by my hand alone as I still possess. Trained by the expert staff of fine artists under the late great Richard Rush for over three years in museum exhibits, my acquired techniques out distanced my experience as a teenager, so I began knocking on doors all over Chicago's old statue house community on the near north side with my hat in hand. Often I was lucky to get my hat back, but never did I disappoint. Word of mouth is all I ever used and this has taken me exciting places introducing me to some incredible people all over the world.
My parents were talented in many ways, Mom wanted to be a fashion designer Dad a famous musician. Both drew with authority in pencil for me and I thought it was magic. Following what interested me all of my life, it seemed I was destined to be part of the visual arts in some way. When I was about 5, Walt Disney walked up to Mom and I at Disneyland, rubbed my head and said I was a good boy. I didn't know who he was, but he sure knew me. Thus began my ability to stumble across masters throughout my youth, picking from them what I could carry, so now I emulate and honor them with each new project. Here in my site, I have tried to represent the many avenues necessary for an artist of my time to survive a career, and continue the traditions I was taught.. I hope you enjoy seeing where my hand left off. I work to make my family proud and to show the giver of these talents a token of appreciation for these opportunities.
My career began as a teen in a basement in Brookfield, so returning after twenty years I feel it should end here as well, just not yet. I hope young artists will be inspired by my story to go where their talent takes them, not the easy road for in struggle there is growth. My preferred media is sculpture, because sculpture never lies you get what you give. Enjoy viewing these works as much as I did making them and call me anytime.
